Jim Knutson is a highly accomplished percussionist, educator, and conductor based in the La Crosse, Wisconsin area. His background includes:

  • Orchestral Work: He has long performed as a solo percussionist with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.

  • Education: He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. He spent 35 years as a high school band director (including Onalaska and Cotter High Schools) and taught at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

  • Other Ensembles: He also directs three bell choirs, the 10-piece CR Steel Band, and the CR High School Jazz All-Stars.
