3rd Charles

When Chip Schreader was eleven, and just starting saxophone, he got a mixtape of “smooth jazz,” including Manhattan Transfer, SpyroGyra, and Grover Washington Jr. He simply wore out that tape falling in love with that sound and groove.

3rd Charles is the band he formed with the help of some really talented musician friends to stay true to that mixtape vibe but in a highly eclectic way.

He tells people that 3rd Charles is kinda like the old band from “Late Night Band with David Letterman” meets the original “Saturday Night Live Band.” It is funk…it is blues…it is pop-jazz.
